If you do not have a pic discribe what to look for so I can see of that > is part of my problem. You need a Bentley manual, or even a Haynes. It has all the photos you need. There is little point in trying to do any engine repair without it, unless you have unlimited money to spend on fixing the mistakes you make because you were just guessing. The thermostat is a copper bellows that lives in a bracket under cyls 1 & 2.
