You need a Bentley manual, or even a Haynes. It has all the photos you 
need. There is little point in trying to do any engine repair without it, unless 
you have unlimited money to spend on fixing the mistakes you make 
because you were just guessing.  

The thermostat is a copper bellows that lives in a bracket under cyls 1 & 2. 
This controls, by way of a linkage of rods, a pair of flaps that are mounted on 
a rod that passes thru the cooling air outlets from the fan housing.
