<x-charset iso-8859-1>I wouldn't want to guarantee that this will work but it' might be worth a try. I got an old clock when I visited Type 3 Detectives for pennies because it was in quite a state and when tested didn't work. It was a grey faced clock but I just wanted it to have a look inside (my '73 TA has few luxuries!) When I got it home I discovered that it had the late style mechanism so I was a bit pessimistic about ever getting it working but I tried and it now keeps very good time ( for a non quartz clock). All I did was take the back off and immerse the whole mechanism in isopropyl alcohol (from a chemists). Actually I put it in an ultrasonic cleaner we have at work for about a minute, but I think just gently swirling it in a container of the stuff would work. Shake the mechy dry, very gently waft it with compressed air if you can, then oil the metal pivot bearings with the tiniest drop of oil on the tip of a scalpel blade- clock oil if you can get it or sewing machine oil if you can't. Theres only a couple of points to oil on a late one. Now if you're lucky it might work with a gentle rock under power- or else its dead from being connected the wrong way, or just old age. Good Luck! ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org </x-charset>
