<x-charset iso-8859-1>>-> This was lined up only for cyl #1 only right? You rotated the engine >before doing the next cylinder right? >D e r e k F l e n n i k e n Sorry, Yes! I lined that up for No. 1, then went 180°CW and did 2, 180°CW and 3, etc. I will go back and double check later, but just wondered if this sounded familiar and might have been something stupid I did that rung a bell. --> Sounds good. I can never remember which way you turn the engine (and I suppose you could go either way), I always double-check that the dizzy rotor is pointing to the spark plug wire for the cylinder I'm about to adjust and then that the fan wheel is at 0 or at 180. Did you set the gap to .006 or .004? I have 3 manuals and I remember that one said to use .004 (can't recall which one), but the proper gap is .006. I always double-check the gap after I lock it down with the nut. Sometimes tightening that nut causes the valve to adjust (or mis-adjust). Just a little game you get to play with your valves. ;-) D e r e k F l e n n i k e n 1971 Squareback San Francisco, CA derek@enth.net ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org </x-charset>
