<x-charset iso-8859-1>I know there are many of you who have lowered the front of your Type3s. I was under the impression that the general consensus was that reindexing by 1 spline was basically equivalent to 1" (and likewise 2 = 2") well, I dropped her down the 2 splines and lo and behold, when I lowered her down to the ground....I think Dumped is the proper term?! I had taken a measuring tape and shot what it sat at stock and then again after the procedure. What I ended up with was closer to 3.5" Is this an indication that my torsion bars are weak (my car only has about 130k original miles) or are earlier models slightly different? I actually think it makes her look cool, but since I'm not really in a position to get lower profile tires at the moment I think I'll go back up to 1 spline, hoping that gives me the 2" I was originally looking for. Also, the instructions I found seemed to indicate that one would simply be able to unbolt the lower ball joint and swing the disc assembly away.....wrong! Unless I've completely lost it, I had to take out the spindle completely to get enough room to bring the lower control arm out. I have before and after pics in my misc directory for anyone wanting to see. www.thinkaccess.net/~vwherb@thinkaccess.net/travissub/miscpics they are the "afterlower-front-pass" and "before-front-pass-low" Any input?!
