Somebody on this list posted a conversion to the Mitsubishi alternator, this gives 12v 80amps. Keep in mind that what this means is that the alternator will give you all the current that the car's system demands, up to 80 amps. Since the car normally only uses a fraction of 30 amps, there is no advantage to this conversion unless you're intent on entertaining the whole neighborhood with your new sound system. Any FLAPS that carries Bosch can get you a genuine Bosch rebuilt generator for a lot less money than what's been mentioned here. I have several good ones here, but they are a rather heavy item to ship. OTOH, if you have a little electrical knowledge and are willing to study, you'll find that you can fix the generators yourself quickly, cheaply, and easily. I have a FAQ that covers most of this. The Bentley manual also covers much of it. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
