A girl from back home managed to blow two (!) engines in a short time in her '71 fastback. (this was in the early '80-s) Both times was in frosty cold winter weather and the same thing happened - she pushed the pedal when accelerating from the first stoplight early in the morning (with a cold engine) - the throttle wire got frozen stuck in full throttle position - the lady paniced, fully occupied with avoiding the surrounding traffic (never mind the screaming engine...) and didnt turn off the igniton quickly enough. As you can guess, the only thing we could do was to broom up the pieces from the street afterwards... If you are going to lubricate the throttle cable - be sure the oil/grease can resist winter temperatures (given that you have those driving conditions) /K-O Sandin -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- FrŒn: Russ Wolfe [mailto:russella@prairieinet.net] Skickat: den 23 september 2001 23:16 Till: type3@vwtype3.org €mne: Re: [T3] On Sunday 23 September 2001 13:28, Micah wrote: > > My question for the big giant head is... > > Whats a good way to lubricate the throttle ? It doesnt stiffen up in cold weather.
