I think all the OE type 3 mirrors were flat. I don't think the use of concave mirrors started until later in the 70s. I still find the RHS mirror on our 96 Taurus to be useless because everything looks much too far away. After trusting them a couple of times and accidentally cutting off some innocent driver on my passenger side, I have fallen back on the center mirror.
