I did this to mine also using a black faced VDO tach.. Used the late black faced instruments (made the car faster with the 110 mph speedo!) and it looks right at home. The only thing is the lighting is a little different but I'll be adding a resistor to get the brightness about the same, plus playing with the color of the light a bit.
