While they will keep out most of the water, they do not make the window watertight. The door is designed to be wet inside. That is why there is a plastic sheet liner under the door panel and why there are drains in the bottom of the door. If you have "an 'Ocean' in there when it rains", I would be willing to bet that the drains in the bottom of the door are partially or completely clogged. There should be two drains in each door, one at the front and one at the bottom corners. Look underneath the door where the inner and outer panels are seamed together. There should be a small slot at each corner. CLEAN THESE SLOTS OUT. You will also want to pop off the door panel and clean out the whole bottom of the door. If your scrapers have been bad for a while, there is probably an accumulation of dirt, pine needles, and leaves in the bottom of the door that can quickly reclog your drains. This grunge will also hold water longer and promote RUST! BTW, I will be doing the scraper replacement on my Square in the near future. I will probably be going for the SuperBeetle or Bus modification route. I will try to take some pictures of the process and post them on my loonger overdue for an update website. DOn't hold your breathe for my pictures though......it could be hazard to your health. Later, John Jaranson '71 FI Auto Fasty (Jane) '66 Square (???)
