<x-charset iso-8859-1>Well, since I came back on list I havent updated my progress this season. My nasty oil leak on the back side of the motor is solved! I pulled the fan housing off and the oil pump cover to see if that was in fact leaking and it looked like the oil was coming from the back of the crank. So with the hint from Jim A that the late breather I was using might not be suitable without the vacuum attached to the PCV valve so I popped the top plug off and WALLA! no leak!! WOOOOO HOOOOO!! so I dissected the PCV and removed the flapper and connected it to the air cleaner on the right carb and my leak problem is solved!! When I had the oil pump cover off I discovered that I did use the sealing nuts but that thin layer of RTV I used on the gasket was a bit much and had actually plugged that return groove, so new gasket and a MICROSCOPIC layer of RTV and now my Hot idle pressure is up to where it should be!! Well almost,,, its around 10-12 PSI but I should see 14... but with the 10w30 that is probably OK, Im still concerned with the full flow obstruction but it seems to at least be less of a problem that I had first thought. So.. good oil pressure and no leaks? what more could I want! FI I say!! I think Im close with the carbs, thanks to Brian Fye, Running is smooth with just the slightest jump when I hit the throttle from shifting but I may be able to rid that with and adjustment on the acc pump. My biggest gripe is warmup, without the chokes even after a good balancing it needs to be feathered and restarted many times. Idrilled a 3/8" hole in the choke plates and reinstalled them.. MUCH better but they still wont track, still too rich, I could try a larger hole BUT... I hear that NOS FI harness calling me. I do want to try the stock air cleaner on it before I start the conversion and perhaps a few more questions for Vader but it is running pretty well considering. Soon to be packed up for the winter... Im gonna try to put the cruise on it next year!!
