I've scanned and OCR-ed the section on chrome; it's about 5KB altogether so
I won't bother to put the whole of it on the list, but here's a sample. If
you are technically interested I'll e-mail it separately. The whole report
is 83 pages long and examines the '69 1600 TLE Fastback pretty intimately
over 10,000 miles, including performance on special road surfaces.

"Item 2. Front Overrider

This item was made from a steel pressing, the outer surface of which had
been plated with a copper-nickel-microcracked chromium system. The chromium
layer contained approximately 390 cracks per 10mm. The inner surface had
thin layers of copper and nickel covered by a layer of zinc based paint. The
coating thickness measurements on the outer surface were as follows:
       MAXIMUM MINIMUM AVERAGE RANGE
 Copper 0.0017 in. 0.00064 in. 0.0009 to 0.0011 in.
 Nickel 0.0021 in. 0.00082 in. 0.0011 to 0.0013 in.
 Chromium 0.0001 in. 0.00003 in. 0.00005 to 0.00009 in.

C.A.S.S. (16 hours). This test produced one small area of corrosion spots
accompanied by a small area of brown staining.

Acetic Acid Salt Spray Test (96 hours). This test produced two small areas
of micro pitting in the plated surface, which did not penetrate to the base
metal."

Maybe some day I'll do the whole report and photos, or scan it as pictures
of pages onto a CD. I also have a 1961 Notchback report done by the same
group (to assess the opposition).
