There are two possible causes that I've experienced. 1) You pushed the metal flap that is supposed to protect the dash pad all the way foward (front is front) when you put the ashtray in and the little lip on it is hooking on the dash. 2) the little plastic tab inside the housing that prevents the flap from going up when the ashtray is pushed in is broken off. Geting it out is not easy. You'll need a pretty stiff piece of wire to reach down and up to pull the flap down to remove the ashtray. Or, you might be able to fit some really skinny needle nose pliers behind the ashtray to work the screws. >Or will I just have to sell the car to a non-smoker? Don't let the pink lung commies win.
