I put in a stereo system this last winter and it has not affected my power consumption by much at all (I don't know why). My euro headlights drag down my generator more than anything. I did not measure amps, but voltage across the battery drops about .25V when stereo on at normal listening level (enough to thump the sub!). My headlights draw it down about .5V. At idle with everything on (I also have electric fuel pump for my carbs) I still get 13.5V across battery. My stereo system: Blaupunkt head unit (CD) Munchen Blaupunkt 5disc in-dash changer Kicker amp (high efficient model, can't remember which one but puts out 300W?) MBQuart components Optima battery Innovations In Fiberglass kick panels All wired to battery so I have to remember to turn off (not hard to do) I think the key component is the Kicker amp. The guy that help me design the system highly recommended this amp because of the efficiency and low amp draw. It was a fairly new model for 2001. If you need more info, feel free to email me off list and I will give more details or even hook you up with the guy who did the work. He is a private distributor and has good knowledge and good pricing. I am very happy with his work! We will probably install a second set of MBQuart components in the car this winter; overkill is just enough! Brian Schlepp Yakima, Wa 69 Fasty - "Purple Passion" 66 T34 P.S.
