Start with the fundamantals. Check the dwell, timing, and valve adjustment. Use the timing light to verify that the advance mechanisms are both working properly. This is the best one and you should really have one of your own: Volkswagen Official Service Manual Type 3 Fastback and Squareback 1968-1973 published by Robert Bentley, Cambridge, Mass, 1974 ISBN 0-8376-0057-X / LPV 997 383 / VSQU (excellent book, complete and well written) Any bookstore can order this for you or I have a few good used copies. Let us know what you have already tried. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
