Finally, I have had a look at the 1966 Type36 squareback for sale on Ebay with a vinyl roof. I really don't believe that the vinyl roof is original. Vinyl roofs were not "in" during the mid-sixties and didn't really become fashionable until the early seventies. The wheels are wrong for 1966 US models - they are silver whereas 1966 models should be black with rim embellishers. Silver wheels only came in with 1970 models. Also, the only correct 1966 model hubcap is the right rear one. The driver's mirror is not original either. I wonder what else has been tampered with on this car? Simon Glen Toowoomba, Australia.
