What I WAS hearing (for some reason it's been awhile - maybe 2 weeks since the last episode) was unquestionable run-on. I would turn off the engine and the engine would turn over sluggishly, as few as once and at the highest count 18 times, and on THAT episode I turned the key on and then off again thinking maybe it was a contact problem, but it kept running, so I turned it ALL the way on again and turned it off and it ran on twice and killed. Again that was a grand total of 18 times: chug chug chug.... I couldn't hear if the switch was going off what with the engine turning over. But every time it did stop, I distinctly heard the switch (power relay) come off. It sounded as though the relay was switching off at a time so close to the engine stopping I was second guessing myself as to whether it was happening AFTERWARD) I couldn't tell, they were so close. I was wondering whether something like a loose generator belt could cause something like that...but that doesnt make any sense now that I looked at the diagram. Keith and I tested the relay, and it looks good. It's still baffling. Keith's final guess was maybe a leaky injector, but that would reflect in my mileage. The last time it happened was just before I went to Keith's. Now, on occasion, I get the one chug and then the engine stops. Since then, the weather has been cooler (if the engine was getting hot) and the engine could have been (probably was) getting hotter than it should have because a corner of the boot had pulled of the housing. That was repaired yesterday. And that's the story. -- Mike Wodkowski 72 SQBK Brooklyn wodkowski@mac.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
