Dave: Thanks. This is very interesting. Found two colors on your site which are both reasonably close, and one that appears to be the same as my paint color, with different numbering schemes from what I've found on other web sites, and also different color names. What appears on your site as Sumatra Green for '73, is identical (or as close through monitor technology) as the Field Green I found on the paint site previously. On other sites, I've seen the Sumatra color listed as a much darker green than what this is on your site. I wonder if colors on European versus US cars were named differently? So, to summarize... I do think the color is an original color, again very close even on a monitor, but will have to wait to see what the color code on the car is listed, as I don't have access at the moment. I do think the original question is answered... jim >>> "Dave Hall" <dave@hallvw.clara.co.uk> - 11/29/01 1:36 PM >>> > I've listed a link to view a small JPEG and I am wondering whether this is original VW color or not. I have found several color charts, but none I can attribute this to. > AFAIK, my site has chips and details of all the '73 Type 3 colours, plus the '74 Type 4 ones. I've not looked at the URL you give yet (reading offline to save blocking my phone line and paying loads!). Take a look at the chassis plate pages too, which show where you can find the factory code to check, in case your paper sticker is missing. Dave.
