>From '68 a larger cover panel was used so changing the shift bushing is much less trouble than on a Beetle. BTW, No wonder there was conflicting advice on stop plate orientation a few days ago. Bentley seems authoritative on this; '68 through '70 has a single tab which goes upwards and on the left (driver's side in USA), while '71 on has two upright tabs, the smaller goes on the left. However the Parts book quotes 311 711 149 through '70, then 111 711 149A for '71 model year, and 111 711 149B for '72 on. They are drawn with the tabs upwards though. Hmm! So the hangers break? I'd better drill out the ones from a couple of scrap floorpans then! Dave.
