[T3] My fuel pump works, but...

Something very strang which I don't fully comprehend
has occured. I took it out cleaned it and gently put
it back together. To test I placed a hose on the "s"
port to a jar full of gass and the others to an empty
jar. I then connected the "+" port to the "+" end of
my battery and logically the "-" to the "-". I gave
her some juice and the pump went alright, but it
started blowing bubbles in the jar full of gas.
Hmmmm...I thought...what if I switch the polarity and
I did and bingo IT WORKS!!!! But this leads to my next
question, what's with the connections...?...does the
polarity get switched in the car and therefore testing
outside of the car is reverse or is it possible the
polarity has benn changed.....am I missing
something...I know the car is German and has a wacky
electrical system.....???...???? It's not really a
problem, but I'm sooo confused...also I lost my key
and would like to test the motor on the car...I
ordered on, but I want to test it now....Anybody know
hoe to hot wire their car...?

Thanks Again,
Phil
