Things to look for: Dry engine and transmission Play in the front end. Valve adjustment Compression Dont be afraid of the fuel injection (it is pretty reliable) If it has been converted to carb's, were they done right, and are they the right carbs for the engine? Look for rust behind the carpet in the front foot wells around the heater outlets Look for rust under the back seat near the seatbelt anchors and the voltage regulator Look for rust around the battery area If you buy the car, get the trans fluid and filter changed as soon as possible, and change it every 20-30k miles.
