Mine always keeps good oil pressure, the shop that did all my align boring jobs does about 20 a week for other people and no one has had any problems except for me. That's why I am ruleing out that. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T GIVE UP! Why not go pick yourself up a used engine and deal with the 1776 later? Was your case line bored? On my first engine rebuild i kinda had the same results (locking up). I think mine was caused by a bad line bore job, and too much heat. I also messed up my end play before i drove it teh first time. End results were after about 20 or so minutes of driving my oil pressure would drop when idling( it would stay okay at higher rpm) and then die. when i went to start it up again i couldn't!. The started couldn't turn the engine over. I would turn, but ever so slowly. I blamed the hole mess on a bad line bore job on a abused case. It re4ally din't destroy the main seal though. Are you using a quality main seal? I think the case had been machned out 3 times. and the thrust once. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
