Here are the differences between a early model ('67, right) and a later model ('68 >, left). This is the electical part of the ignition switch, and as you can see the they are definitely different. The wiring for the early on isn't there because the switch was shot and fell apart. That is the piece that I need to find. :-( http://www.ij.net/type3lvr/ignition_complete.jpg http://www.ij.net/type3lvr/ignition_sidebyside.jpg http://www.ij.net/type3lvr/ignition_topsidebyside.jpg Joe Plowick My Site: http://type3lvr.homestead.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "neil verdon" <Neil.Verdon@t-online.de> To: "type 3 list" <type3@vwtype3.org> Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 2:46 PM Subject: [T3] ignition switches > hi all this talk of ignition switches going pete tong makes me nervous as im > not 100% sure what year my switch is any pictures of the diferent types on > the web anywhere it is horisontal and has a little black plug on the left > hand side ive a feeling its the 66 one even though im running the later > colapsable column thru it . > i need a bearing for this column as its getting a bit slack can some body > give me a part no is it the same bearing as fitted to a bug or t2? thanks > guys. > neil verdon 66 sqr on irs pan > best among equals rise to the top. > ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
