Just finished and am putting back together my 1964 Type 34. Replaced half of engine tin with tin from my parts car. Found that the generator was from a bug an am replacing it with Type 3 stuff. Am still worried about a knock around the A/C compressor. Will test it with the belts off to see whether it is the bracket (which once busted) or the compressor itself. I took delivery today of my 1952 Zwitter today. I was both surprised and disappointed with results. It cost me an extra $1,025, which I didn't like and am no longer doing business with Jerry West. That's a total of $3,025 I paid him for essentially a brake job and making the fender skirts fit (plus a new muffler, choke cable, etc.). and installation of a new radio. I found that the top of the door was not painted or primered; the left headlight didn't work; the left semaphore didn't work; It jumped outa fourth gear; The right taillight was mis-wired (not Jerry's fault), And Jerry gave me the car back without installing the right-hand outside mirror. I expected him to install it. Then, I found that the rear apron was from about a 1960 bug, with the 2nd muffler hole plugged up. But, overall, I was pleased with how the Zwitter performed. It has a 24 Hp engine, which performed better than the 36 hp in my 1955 bug. It cruised about 60-65 mph, less than flat out. This was the first time I had driven it. It was pleasant getting used to the push-button starter. The radio also worked on AM. Next, I went to Tyler, Texas yesterday to visit Ron Hansen and my 1949 Hebmuller. He had made good progress, and I am supposed to return Friday, May 25 with such parts as the windshield, hubcaps, light buckets, etc. We are going to take photos of the Heb with the parts matched up and in place. He is removing all bondo and replacing it with metal.
