My 60-70 "WIthout Guesswork" gives no mention of any engines without a letter prefix, so I guess it's not going to be any help here. Muir's "Complete Idiot" mentions numbers in this series for both type 2 and 3. Okay, different topic. Here's the complete text off the strange muffler, read and reproduced as best I can: ------------ Walker ------------ I vp V82 VW 1500S-1600A-L-TL Variant 1500S - 541 Baui ab Aug 1964 Typz KBA 10270 Made in W Germany Teil Nr. 2082 - 50 I 84 I understand most of this, but I don't know why there is an "i" at the end of Baui or a z at the end of Typz. I vp, KBA and 541 don't mean anything to me, either. I'm guessing that 84 is the year it was made. All the type 3 Walker mufflers I ever bought were labeled "MADE IN W. GERMANY C21674" where 21674 was the Walker part #. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
