yes.. i am fairly certain it is the original engine.... the odometer on this bus shows 40K miles.. and i have reason to believe that the odometer hasn't been around the clock, lets just say that a lot of the stuff that i have taken apart to replace, is original, and also with fairly low wear, along with the condition of stuff like windows, front floors etc... remember this is an early 65 (august 64), i've come across what you mention... at first i thought that it wasn't an original engine also... but have checked the split window bus registry ( there is an option on there to display the engine numbers...) (www.vintagebus.com) and there are other early 65's that have numbers that fall in line with this engine number, so i do believe that some of the info that is out there on engine numbers/years is wrong.... that wouldn't be the first time !! -- Todd Daley Ontario, Canada 65 VW Kombi 71 VW Squareback 71 VW Fastback 85 Audi GT Coupe Russ Wolfe wrote: > Are you sure that is the orginal engine/case?
