The calipers are compatible and the later ones (68-71) are better 
than the 66-7s because the later pistons are chrome plated to keep 
them from rusting. Of course early calipers can be fitted with late 
pistons.

Upgrading to the tandem MC is a good thing to consider, but there 
are several difficulties: The late reservoir is also "tandem" and the 
feed lines to the tandem MC is larger in dia.

It's a very reasonable thing to do. I have extra early calipers, too. 
Since I got my "booster pump" going, I should be able to pop open 
even the most frozen calipers soon.
