David and Russ, I am almost sure that this will not be of assistance to you, but the same fuel filler neck grommet was also used on Type 4 (VW 411 and VW 412) vehicles. My 1969 Type 4 had a completely rotted grommet and after months of searching wreckers yards I eventually found quite a good one on a late model Type 3. So, in your searches, look at Type 4 wrecks, too. By widening your search options you just might strike it lucky. Good luck!
