[T3] Enrichment experiment



Well remember guys when I told you I would
modify the starter injector circuit to accelerate
the car ? Well I did it and with the cold starting
feature intact. I also have and LED on my accelerator
circuit on switch to see when the injector is injectng.
The injector will only inject when engine is turning and
vacume drops suddenly, just like a carburator's power
valve. Also the injector will inject when starting 
and cold, tested this cold starting stock feature
with Ice on the thremal time switch. 

Well the experimental addition to my enrichment circuit
did not work well. The stock enrichment circuit in the
throttle switch works well but I wanted more zoom 
from my almost bone stock setup using all original 
type3 and vw parts. Upon heavy acceleration or
around a few pounds of vacume left, the injector
would inject at full force a fine mist into the 
main body of the maifold, the theory was that the 
the car would "fly" harder. After vacume was restored
the injector would turn off. Very little accelation
difference was noticed but there was some. More
acceleration was noticed when I passed cars at
75 MPH and hit 90 very quickly so I left it in there.
I can shut the circuit off anytime to have a normal
running car that gets better mileage. Turn it "on"
on comand. The circuit is automatic and needs
no intervention from the driver. 

I found a drawback from the circuit. If I left it on,
the day was warm and the engine was warm, the injection
system leaned out to compensate, the additional 
gas injected would flood the now rich intolerant
system and shut the car down. This shutdown happend 
only during hard acceleration upon leaving a stop
sign or normal acceleration when leaving a stop 
sign uphill. On flat roads at a stop sign the engine 
would miss if i pressed the accelerator a little
hard, I always had a lead foot.
So I shut the circuit down inside the city or drove
conservatively avoiding seeing the LED from blinking.
Hey dads you can modify the circuit to shut the car 
down if tour kid went crazy with the gas pedal, hee,
hee, hee !

The reason for this was that the gas is unburned 
because the fuel ratio exceeded the 14 part oxygen
and one part fuel parameter by alot. Only during highway
speeds this amount of fuel can be used since lots
more air is flowing, so to make this circuit work
without the stumble or shutdown bug, one must install
an RPM switch from those racing catalogs. The circuit
does not give anything impressive. 

If a NITRO canister were installed intead of fuel 
to that injector then you would have some real
speed then. Too much for me though. I may make
my special fuel mixture and mini tank but then
I may never do this.

The bottom line is that my engine needs more oxigen 
to take advantage of this mod, maybe increasing 
the engines airflow... etc..

oh well just wanted to let you know.
