i am having fuel pressure problems, well almost no fuel pressure at all is more like it. the pump runs when i switch on the key as well as when i am cranking the car. so it can be one of two things. first of all i looked into my tank and there is rust, but the little screen is not clogged. so i know that fuel is making it to the pump. even though the fuel makes it to the pump is it possible that what rust is getting through is clogging the fuel filter hence reducing fuel pressure. or could the pump itself be clogged. is that possible? i changed the fuel filter and there was rust residue in the filter. Second, how common is it to have a pump run but not deliver the proper amount of fuel or fuel pressure? i am just trying to do the trouble shooting from most likely problem to the least most likely. one more little note that you should know about. if i let the car set overnight and then hit the ignition...bam! it run's like a charm, but only for about a minute then it dies. could it be that the rust is settling in the filter as well as the pump overnight hence letting me build up fuel pressure until the rust is move around again only to clog the filter and pump again? That's what i think is happening. what does everyone out in type3 land think? also on a side note what terminals do i bridge on the fuel pump relay to make the fuel pump run so that i can do a fuel pressure test? i have my gauge all hooked up and ready to go but i was afraid of bridging the wrong terminals. my wife says that if you give me the right answer she will bake you white chocolate macadamia nut cookie's and mail them to you. they are quite tasty! is there anyone that would be willing to talk to me on the phone about some other questions i have on the car? i would call so that i would have to pay the long distance bill. i live in southern pennsylvania so if you live in russia i don't think i would call you...please don't take offense! from the the rolling hills of pa, jesse (71squareback) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
