[T3] head nut stripping

Well guys I recently had my 72SB up on the jacks getting her ready for
springtime. I replaced the exhaust system. But I still heard a noise. I
doublechecked all the exhaust nuts and then figured out that the head was
loose. I took the rocker arms off and sure enough the nut at the bottem
rear
of the head was loose enough to turn easily with a wrench. I checked the
other three under the valve cover and only one was slightly under torqued.
I
figured it was a freak thing. Maybe it had rattled loose? I started to
tighten it up. It never seemed to tighten something just didn't feel
right.
It has some torque on it still so it hasn't completely stripped out. When I
noticed that there was an extra 1/4 inch of threads showing on the stud I
figured something was wrong. Not wanting to do damage I popped the cover
back on and put the project on hold. What should I do next? Helicoil with
the engine in? Give it a few more turns and see if it tightens up? What do
ya think?
