I never heard of a Michelin guarantee over here. Maybe they do/did use different rubber mixes for different places. I would guess quite a bit of the wear would be due to turning, which is bound to cause slipping of the tyre at a rate dependent on the turn radius. The fronts always wear less; I guess this is explained by lighter loading and the effect of steering geometry. Dave.
