I was told that my car would also be out of alignment as soon as I drove it out of the tire shop, because my ball joints were so worn. I recently replaced my tie-rod ends and knew that my ball joints were going to need replacement soon, this just helped me speed up the process. I replaced all four original ball joints - and it was quite an easy job, I don't know why I kept putting it off! It took only an afternoon, and the difference is like night and day, steering is so smooth and bumps are barely felt! Tire wear is now down to a small minimum too, I believe. I used the Volkswagen published service repair manual printed for the 1966 model type 3 only, but the Bently looks like it explains the process just as well. So, don't be so apprehensive and go replace your ball joints - you will be more than glad you did! -Yancy Everhart ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
