Re: Day/Night Mirror

>>I suppose if a Squareback at somepoint got a mirror that first
appeared on a Notch/Fastback, then it wouldpreserve its 311 part
number.<<

Not so in this case. The early Squarebacks had a different mirror and it

had a 361 number. I have one, the number's cast in the mirror base.

>>no one has mentioned tinted mirrors (I've never seen such a thing) I
think "anti-dazzle" means day/night.<<

Some Type 3 Ghia mirrors had an anti-glare tint and I was speculating
(wrongly, it turns out). I think you're absolutely right: the parts list

is listing newer model mirrors as replacements for older mirrors. Just
proves that the parts list isn't always the final word.

Is the 1966-67 "snap in" mirror mount the same as the later mirrors?
Is it possible to install a 69 day/night mirror in a 66 without
modifying
anything? If so then it makes sense that VW would retroactively list
the later part as replacement for the earlier model years.
