It all depends on how big the crack is, where it is, and how cool it 
is outside. If significant air can be drawn in there, then this will be 
HOT air and the engine won't get sufficient cooling. This could lead 
to overheating the engine.

In general, I like to see the bellows be completely intact if the car 
is going to be driven in hot weather. You may be able to do a temp 
repair with duct tape until you can get a replacement bellows, just 
make sure the duct tape can't be sucked into the engine!
