The Road & Track test of the 69 Squareback (FI, Automatic) listed the curb weight as 2250 lbs. Curb weight is typically car plus all liquids, no passengers, no luggage. As for the weight growing over time.....this always happens with cars. Typically, equipment is added, parts don't come in at the target weight, small fixes are engineered that add weight, etc, etc, etc. We are always trying to get weight out and the cars still end up heavier than they should be. My guess is that the '62 weight was published based on a prototype weight or more likely a calculated estimate of the weight. The larger numbers from later cars are actual measured weights of production cars. Wouldn't be the first time or the last time this was done.
