You're talking about Fastback pop-outs? Yes, they are removable. From the inside there are sheetmetal screws (don't remember how many. 3 or 4?) under the rubber lip. With the screws removed, the whole window/frame assembly can be removed. Check the list archives. A couple years ago I asked a similar question and somebody gave a nice and very detailed response, which I printed out but don't have handy. But if your windows don't leak and they are in decent shape, I wouldn't mess with them. Just mask them off for a repaint. I'd be afraid of screwing up an otherwise decent seal. Replacement pop-out seals are very difficult to find, and they are usually very expensive.
