RE: electronic ignition

The spark would look so lame you cannot see it. So if
you can easily see it then it would be bright
blue and not orange, some white color is OK.
If you have a good spark some efi checking
must be done. Do you hear the EFI pump go on,
when you initially turn key ? Check all connectors
on engine and make sure the connectors are
pressed in. I had a bad problem when I changed
the points to Electronic and I did not notice
for hours that my distributor connector EFI
plug was slightly ajar.

Did you check for a spark ? If no spark
or very weak spark you would get just dry
cranking or putt putt's and backfiring. I have
gone through that before. Need to check if
power is getting to the hot side (12V) of the
ignition module when the key is turned on. Use
a multimeter if you have one, if not, a light
bulb with a pig tail from some rear car lights
you may have around. I wish you lived near by
so I can just mozy down after work and check
it out because I have been there before
I got my car to be very dependable.
Keep me posted maybe we can find out what is wrong
if you give me more info.

Matt
did you get tour car fixed ?
What kind of electronic ignition did you install ?
I installed a Pertronix . The black wire went to the
negative side of the coil and the red wire goes to
the 12v ignition side of the coil.
