You will need to remove the door check strap briefly to install the new seals around them, but you should have this engaged most of the time and be very careful with the door when it is not hooked up. It is easy to push the door too far forward without the strap in place and this will scratch the paint and crease the door. > What's the best solvent for removing old adhesive from the doors > without removing the paint? Damn crap auto stores only sell the 3M > adhesive but not the 3M adhesive remover. It's usually not necessary to get all the old adhesive off. Just carefully use a screwdriver to scrape off all the remnants of the old seal and most of the old glue.
