In most cases its not much of an effect; the change you have noticed is pretty big. BTW, I'm really pleased to hear of someone else who keeps a mileage notebook. I've been doing this continuously since the mid 60s and find that it's a really good way to notice when something's going wrong. The only time I experienced a sudden increase in gas mileage it had gone to over 35mpg on the first leg of a long trip. I was concerned that I had done something wrong during my tuneup the day before and stopped along the road to check it out. Like you I was also concerned about overheating and hurting something. After re-checking the timing, etc, I finally noticed the VERY strong tailwind that had been following me. I packed up my gear and, gratefully and happily, drove on. ;-) - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
