I just got my '64 notch on the road, after 1.5 years since the project began. The car has been non-op since 1987 and the gas tank has a significant amount of rust inside. I had it hot-tanked (had alot of varnished gas in it), loaded it up with many large nuts & bolts, shook it around profusely and managed to break free a good deal of the rust particles. Regardless, the rust is still there. I have 3 filters it the system at present, one at the tank and one on each carb, and while the car runs pretty well (after an initial stutter as I roll on the throttle), I REALLY want to fix it. Several questions: 1. If I continue to filter the lines, will the loose rust eventually taper off and no longer be a problem? 2. What will happen to the engine if I continue running it this way? 3. Anybody have a good used early T3 gas tank for sale? 4. Any other suggestions?
