I suspect 67 was the year

You could add a grommet in the hole.

The rubber stops pry off the little metal mushrooms that hold them 
in place. The rubber is not likely to be damaged, but there is a fair 
chance that the mushrooms have been weakened by rust and will 
break off when you try this.
