Thanks Mark for supplying the connection order of the 71 and later master cylinder when installing on a 70 fastback. I can confirm that the switches along the left and the metal lines along the right works. moving out from the firewall, first port to the rear brakes, 2nd port to the right front wheel, third funny slanted port to the left front, using a longer metal brake line than the original 70 right front one, more like a bus rear line. Readjusted the master cylinder push rod back to as close to where it was by memory only, all the while bleeding the brakes and trying to obtain some pedal. Finally did obtain good pedal and seemed to get most of the air out of the system. Seeing as I've never had all 4 brakes working on this thing (front only for last 2 years) I'm used to having alot of travel before getting pedal. Question: What is the optimal amount of travel one should have before the brakes seriously engage or offer stopping resistance? I'm not referring to the 5-7mm freeplay - (I have 6mm right now) and not counting the minimum travel from pedal to firewall 8&7/8 inches (I'm a bit short with 8.5 inches right now) I'm talking about travel before engagement but after freeplay - I'm running about 1.5 inches right now, but shouldn't you be able to reduce it to almost nothing ? or do you want some? I think I'm a little too much still. Anyway, still haven't adjusted using the bracket as I want to get as close as I can with the pushrod before I throw another variable in there....thanks.
