I have seen a towbar on a fastback, I don't know if it was factory or not, but it fitted in between the bumper and the bumper mounts and the ball stuck out just behind the bumper. It was the height of the bumper and about 5mm thick steel and the length of it was from one bumper mount to the other. I don't know how much of a load you could carry on a system like this though.
