I suspect you could just undo the front of the tranny and let it down 
just enough to let the shaft out. I think that even if you need to slip 
the AT rearwards to get it out of the front mount, you might be able 
to just flex the rear mounts enough to allow this.

This really is a pretty easy fix. An automotive machine shop would 
be glad to weld it back together for you. Just make sure you are all 
agreed on the right position to weld it back together.
