Check the size by placing the ring in the cylinder and square it up with the head of the piston. Then measure the ring gap. Use the old rings to CAREFULLY clean out the grooves, so that the new rings can seat to the bottom of the grove without binding. You must do this without scratching the wall of the groove. Then spread the new rings and slip them over the piston and down into the groove.
