Sorry, but Type 4s did not have standard automatic transmission.  I would doubt
whether even half the Type 4s made had automatic transmission.  Automatic
transmission was an option (VW Option M-249) throughout the period of VW Type 4
production from 1969 to 1974 model years.  In most countries where the Type 4 was
sold, automatic transmission was either not made available at all by the
importers or it was an optional extra.  For the USA , the importers specified
that most of their Type 4s should have M-249 but even for the USA automatic
transmission was not standard.  The 2-door VW Type 41 was usually sold in USA
only with manual transmission.
