Just place the chisel sideways against the 'lobe' of the nut and hammer. This obviously cuts into the nut, but you would be advised to replace that anyway, particularly if the threads are corroded. You may end up splitting the nut, which will also release it from the threads. Otherwise you could drill down into the narrow shoulder of the nut and split it rather than turn it. Dave.
