the way the linkage fits to the end of the throttle shaft it is threaded on the end for a nut and also has a flat both sides to ensure that the linkage does not spin on the shaft . what i have done is file the flats where the linkage will sit and be held in position by the retaining nut this reduces the clearence at both ends so stopping air being drawn in. i can testifie it does work but you must be very carfull file to much and the shaft will no longer rotate as when the nut is done up it will pull the linkage up against the spinle bushing. this is only a poor mans quick temporary fix! my spare set of carbs in the celler are exactly this and they were fine when i pulled them for a properly rebuilt set it was just the thought more than anything that made me change they worked fine like this! one of the most important things is that the butterfly sits centrally in the bore with the minimum of clearance around its periphery this allows proper adjustment if there is a build up of crud it means they can not close properly and the idle will not come down!! neil verdon 66 sqr on irs pan best among equals rise to the top. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
