I had this when I installed my Bugpack header. Paint was 
the stuff burning and causing the smell. The gaskets did 
not burn away until 2 weeks later.

You got to understand I drive alot , like 125+ miles a 
day for the past two years on this car. I still have not 
learned my lesson on keeping speed down 
(cannot still go below 80).

I tell you this because my engine componets are used
to the max it can handle and the asbestos gaskets you got
burned away several times on my car. I even used the 
sandwiched metal and asbestos gaskets you are using now 
but I killed those too; the asbestos material burned away
and left a very thin piece of corroded sheetmetal. After
much frustration, I purchased a set of bugpack thick pure
copper gaskets and never looked back. I had these since
December of last year.
