As I reported earlier the threads in the left steering knuckle was damaged and I got the advice to repair it with heli-coil. I didn't feel that I was able to do this repair myself so I was going to let a machine shop do this work for me. Then I found a NOS knucle for less than the heli-coils would have cost and bought this instead. The car was lowered when I bought it and I'm going to raise the front one spline to get the car more suited to daily driving. I read Keith Park's excellent article about the front end and went to work. Three of the ball joint claming bolts came loose easily, but the fourth (right lower) snapped off the head. I also must say that I was only using a 30 cm bar and not much force. This bolt is a 10.9 and I'm not looking forward to drilling that one out. Has anyone done this or has some advice? It is also very irritating that there was a bolt in the right knuckle that broke. If the bolt had been in the left knuckle I could have junked the knuckle, since I'm fitting the NOS one instead.
